On Sunday, February 13th at the end of worship we will be collecting a special “Souper Bowl of Caring” offering to benefit United Churches of Algiers whose mission is to “To assist the people in the greater Algiers community who need help in obtaining enough food.”
The United Church of Algiers Food Bank is supported by the generous donations from the churches and other organizations in the Algiers area.
The Souper Bowl of Caring began in South Carolina in 1990 with one pastor. He encouraged other churches in the area to team up with him in collecting a special offering for food banks on Super Bowl Sunday. The first year they collected $5,700. To date over $100,000,000 has been collected and donated to food banks. Algiers United Methodist Church has been participating since the program went nation wide in 1993.
Lets fill those soup pots Sunday, February 13th.
